WELVIEW RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION
- HISTORY
In July 2007 a serial rapist was running amok in Weltevreden Park, attacking residents, and then an armed robbery took place at a local residence. A small group of concerned and angry residents finally came together and said “enough is enough” it is time to fight back against the criminals in our community and claim back our streets. Meetings were held with the SAPS and Honeydew community police forum (CPF) and the most effective way is to set up a local residents association, working hand in hand with the authorities to protect the community.
After an initial meeting with local residents, it was made clear that we had the support of many, who also wanted to fight crime in our area. By August 2007 the Welview Residents Association was formally established, with the full backing of the SAPS and the Honeydew CPF.
- MISSION
The Welview Residents Association is a non-profit organization with the intent of providing a safe and harmonious environment for all its residents and their visitors. Through working closely with our security company and the SAPS we will ensure that all members are not only secure in their homes but have free and safe passage through the area.
- VISION
It is Welview Residents Association’s aim to involve each and every household in our area. Every family and staff member should be involved in active community awareness and together we will strive for a crime-free, safe and harmonious neighborhood. Collaboration and standing together we strive on maintaining infrastructure and improving our community.
WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN WELVIEW RA?
As a community, we have partnered with two of the best security providers Dowry and Fidelity ADT. With our partnership, we have additional benefits to make our lives more comfortable, easier and safer. Here is more detail:
- We have two dedicated Response/Patrol vehicles constantly within the Welview borders, 2 minutes away from your home. (They respond to all emergencies, even if you are with your own private securit company).
- Discounted Dowry and Fidelity ADT rates as a Welview member
- Dowry and Fidelity ADT response teams available to assist whenever necessary.
- 27 fixed security cameras at all seven entrances into Welview area that is monitored by an Analyticaly monitoring company. If there is an incident members have access to this information.
- The dedicated Response/Patrol vehicles are kept informed of sispecious activities the caperas pick up.
- Checkup call ficility for our pensioners, for a house call to see that all is in order.
- A backup service for emergency medical respose, including ambulance as well as fire.
Futhermore as an active and involved community we have also prided ourselves in the following:
- We have various communications via Whatsapp, Facebook and our Website.
- Direct contact point with our Honeydew Sector 2 Community Policing Forum reporting on community issues relating to SAPS, JMPD, City Parks, JRA, Joburg Water, City Power, Pikitup, etc
- The WRA is actively addressing town planning issues that can affect property value in our area. We are assisting with power/water outages with our ward counsellar, and engage with service contractors to fix-up our roads.

And finally, the WRA is currently engaged with local businesses completing a loyalty program where WRA members will receive special discounts on products and services.
HOW CAN YOU JOIN?
- Choose between the Dowry and Fidelity ADT / Welview joint discounted rate OR Welview membership only.
- Dowry and Fidelity ADT / Welview Special: Rate includes the Welview membership fee and armed response services –
- Dowry and Fidelity ADT representative will contact you regarding payment options, it includes Welview membership fee thus there is no need to pay Welview directly.
- Welview Membership: If you prefer another armed response security provider, contribute to Welview directly and get the extra protection of the Dowry and Fidelity ADT Welview dedicated Response/Patrol vehicles – R150 per month (*Pensioners discount available)
- Two options for paying Welview for your membership; debit order or manual EFT.
- Complete the debit order form if you prefer us to deduct the fee monthly.
- Our banking details are on the debit order form if you prefer EFT.
- Complete the registration form and send it back to us in order to update our database.
On joining you will receive:

- Welview RA gate sign for your home
- Other emergency numbers
- And be added to the community WhatsApp groups
