Hello Welview Residents,
This year has been challenging and brought about change, having said that we would like to thank Allan, Anton and Steve for all their work and dedication to get this group on the right track.
The RA would like to wish you all A Happy Easter. During this holiday, enjoy the time spent with your family and friends. Should you be travelling, we wish you safe travels!
SECURITY
We know quite a few members are concerned regarding the security within the area. Please note this is being urgently addressed, and we will have feedback at the AGM.
COMMUNICATIONS
WhatsApp Groups
We have 2 types of WhatsApp groups, An Emergency Group – which is divided into three areas – these are purely for WRA members and the WhatsApp Chat Group.
Herewith a reminder of what is and is not allowed on the groups. Sorry to have to remind you all again, but we have noticed that members are leaving the groups because they are unhappy about certain posts or the way they have been treated on the groups.
So here is a breakdown to assist all when it comes to the Emergency Group or Chat Group.
Emergency Group
For emergencies only. Please do not reply with any thank you’ s or emojis.
The emergency group is for messages associated with suspicious individuals, circumstances or vehicles. Postings on the emergency group should only be posted if you feel there is a threat to the homeowner or the area. The emergency group can also be used if it is a life threatening situation ie: assistance with a fire in a home, a medical emergency etc. If you are unsure what is regarded as an emergency you are welcome to message the admin WhatsApp number privately first and they can repost on your behalf. The dedicated RA vehicle will respond to ALL emergency situations irrespective if you are using a different security company. Should you be using a different security company the dedicated RA vehicle will assist where necessary while waiting for your security company to arrive.
Forum Group/Chat Group
A more relaxed group for discussions and chatter keeping in mind this is a community group and would prefer the topics to stay as relevant as possible.
You are more than welcome to post your thoughts on the Welview Chat Group, as long as it is not hate speech. Hate speech is speech that attacks a person, or a group based on attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Please also remember that advertising is only allowed on Fridays.
In future a warning will be given and unfortunately, we will be forced to remove people from the groups.
Here are some helpful hints with regards to the Chat Group that we feel can assist all:
- Don’t use groups just to send memes, videos, pictures and news, without reading and reacting to the content shared by others. No one likes monologues.
- Never send content, information or “news” that HASN’T been verified.
- If you feel uncomfortable in a group for any reason, feel free to leave or “mute” the group.
- Don’t get angry if someone doesn’t respond to your messages in a group. No one is obliged to do so. Better send him/her a direct message.
- Before sending a video, picture, meme or any content, analyze if such material will be in the interest of most of the members of the group.
- When forwarding a message, picture or video and you’re choosing multiple recipients, avoid sending it to all your groups, since hardly the same content will be suitable or of interest to all.
- Unless it’s a thematic group on politics or religion, avoid placing such content, since hardly all will have the same religious beliefs or political preferences. Avoid unnecessary debates.
- Unless tolerated by all, avoid sending any content that is violent or pornographic.
- When replying to a specific comment from a person, use the “reply” function to make sense of your comment and avoid confusion.
- When noticing that you’re having a dialogue with a single member of the group, consider changing the conversation to direct message, because the rest of the group may not be interested in reading your conversation with another person.
- Keep in mind that your words can be interpreted in multiple ways, so use short sentences that can’t be misinterpreted.
- Don’t abuse emojis. There are some like this 😂 or 😭 that don’t require explanation,
- Avoid sending videos or files that are very large, since nobody likes to saturate the memory of their smartphone or waste their data/internet plan on nonsense.
Let’s stand together and not lose sight of why we have these groups.
